by Kristin

Hello everyone! I say I created a monster but the truth is it's a very good one. Last November I gave my mom a treat of a lifetime by taking her to see Chris. She loves country music but swore up and down that she wasn't going to like him.

The show was at a bar and she told me I couldn't go unless someone went with me. To my surprise I couldn't find anyone to go, but lucky for her I roped her into it (like she had a choice!) I made her wear one of my many Chris shirts and so she  looked like she wanted to be there. All she kept saying was, "I'm too old for a concert like this, Kristin! I don't want to go because I don't like him and I don't know any of his songs."

I wanted a good seat and so  we left early to get there when the doors opened at 4 (the concert didn't start until 8). She was ticked about that but life goes on.

Finally, we get to the concert  and she starts looking around realizing that there are people of all ages there and she's not the oldest person like she seemed to think. When the concert started and Chris came out with his electric performance that he's so famous for, I looked over at her and she had the biggest smile on her face. She jumped around and danced to every song he sang!!

She got to meet him that night as well and the cutest thing is she blew up the picture of her and him, framed it and it's displayed in the living room on top of the tv so "eveyone can see it and be jealous".

Now he's the only person that can be played in her house. The radio goes on...it's Chris Young and only Chris Young!

I don't really know what the point of my story is but I love to see Chris have fans of all ages because I personally think that it shows that he's got talent way above his years. I know that he will eventually, and should be now, the #1 artist in all of country music and all other genres.

April's Winning Story

The Man I Want To Be has inspired me in so many ways. I was with my boyfriend for two and a half years, and I had to help him through a lot. He was who I planned forever with. He always had a rough life and didn't know how to find a way out. He was one of the people I cared about more than life itself.

The last time I saw him was October 24th. Four days later, I received a phone call at 3:36 PM.  It showed his name on my cell phone, but the voice was unfamiliar when I had answered. It ended up being his uncle to tell me Thomas had passed away early that morning. And the past few months have been very hard for me.

The day I got the call I couldn't help but think there was something more I could do. I listened to two of Chris Young's songs over and over the following few days. The Man I Want To Be, the more I listened to it the more I realized Thomas was his own person, and I knew that we both loved each other unconditionally. It made me realize everyone needs someone there, but they aren't going to change unless they're willing to find help within themselves.

Everyday I have relived the funeral just like it was  yesterday; it replays over and over again in my head. But the way I find hope is through the lyrics of The Man I Want To Be. The song is very inspiring. I don't know where I'd be if I hadn't found Chris's music. I've had my breaking point, and the song shows me there is hope for a tomorrow.

Regardless of my loss, there are people surrounding me who care about me. There was a lot I wanted for my ex. This is all a part of God's plans. With whatever tomorrow will bring, I know he's making me stronger and making me the person I'm supposed to be. He hasn't given up on me, and I can't give up on him.
